(2)Advantages
The carbon ring seal with the lowest levels of buffer gas
consumption. Lift-off type carbon ring seals are setting the
benchmark among the existing oil barrier seals with regard
to separation gas consumption. The profiled surface
at the inner diameter of the segmented ring provides at
circumferential speeds of > 10 m/s an aerodynamic lift-off
and the segments are floating on a very small gas film.
